Fiber optic media converter (OLM)

High availability in challenging industrial applications – the PSI-MOS FO converters are in their element here. FO converters are indispensable, particularly when it comes to systems where long transmission distances and high immunity to EMC are required.

The devices can be quickly and easily connected to each other via the DIN rail connector. As such, this is how the cross-wiring for data signals and supply voltage is provided. Installing the devices is quick and connection errors are eliminated.

In this way, up to ten devices can be combined to suit the application. This modular PROFIBUS hub can be designed with up to 30 channels, either in copper or fiber optics.

Modular means flexible: even during operation, you can replace individual modules without affecting the others. The optional system power supply fits into the system seamlessly and can also be used redundantly.

Always stay well informed: all PSI-MOS devices feature a bar graph display.

This gives you important advantages:

  • Constant evaluation of the optical signal quality of the fiber optic path during startup and operation.
  • Early warning issued in the event of a drop in transmission quality before a system failure even occurs. In the event of critical signal quality, the alarm output of the devices is activated.

Depending on performance class, distances up to 45 kilometers can be implemented between two devices. In particularly challenging applications with high EMC requirements, fiber optics ensure the highest levels of immunity to interference. At the same time, there is high-grade electrical isolation between the system parts.

Combined with the PSI-REP copper repeaters, complex star distributors can be assembled with any mixture of copper and fiber optic channels.
