Converters from Phoenix Contact enable you to convert different serial interfaces to other standards in a protocol-transparent way. Thanks to electrical isolators, you can avoid dangerous compensating currents and protect end devices against transient coupling effectively.

Your advantages

  • Adapt and connect interfaces using converters
  • Increased range and speed, thanks to network segmentation
  • Avoid compensating currents, thanks to high-quality electrical isolation between individual bus segments

One device – three functions

Converters for interface adaptation

RS-232 converter for RS-422 and RS-485

The RS-232 converter enables you to convert your RS-232 interface to the following formats:

  • RS-422: 4-wire point-to-point operation
  • RS-485: 2-wire operation, half duplex
  • RS-485: 4-wire operation, full duplex
  • Transmission speed from 4.8 kbps to 115.2 kbps

Additional features:

  • LED display for transmitting and receiving data
  • High-quality 3-way isolation between power supply, RS-232, and RS-422/RS-485 for safe decoupling of 2 kV potentials
  • Integrated surge protection with transient discharge to the DIN rail

RS-232 interface isolator

RS-232 interface isolator

Increase the immunity of your RS-232 interface. The high-quality 3-way isolation results in a floating and interference-free interface.

This gives you important advantages:

  • High-quality 3-way isolation between power supply, RS-232, and RS-232 for safe decoupling of 2 kV potentials
  • For all transmission speeds up to 115.2 kbps
  • Transmission of data channels for outgoing data (TxD) and incoming data (RxD) as well as control lines RTS (request to send) and CTS (clear to send)
  • Display of active data transmission via separate data indicators for the transmitting and receiving channels
