Changes to our RoHS marking on the packaging label

RoHS marking

“RoHS WEEE COMPLIANT” to become “RoHS”

Regulatory requirements make it necessary to adapt the RoHS marking.

With directive 2011/65/EU (the RoHS 2 directive) coming into force, the use of any other symbol in addition to the CE marking which attests the conformity of the product with the applicable requirements of the directive is not permitted. [Article 30, Paragraph (4) of Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008]. Until now, due to contractual agreements, Phoenix Contact adhered to its own “RoHS WEEE COMPLIANT” symbol and printed its packaging labels with this symbol.

As part of the implementation of the requirements from the Chinese RoHS regulation and the associated marking obligations for products, we are also adapting the marking for “EU RoHS” on the packaging label for technical reasons. In future it will simply be indicated by a framed “RoHS” logo. In addition, we are incorporating the China RoHS marking for the Environment-Friendly Use Period (EFUP) and for compliance with the limit values on the packaging label.

Changeover to the new packaging label will be gradually implemented from production date 2016-09-01 onwards.
