Safety characteristics according to the VDMA standard

Functional Safety

Phoenix Contact supports the 66413 VDMA standard and provides corresponding characteristics for Safety products

The EN ISO 13849 and EN 62061 standards harmonized under the Machinery Directive require calculations to determine the failure probability of safety-relevant parts of controllers.

As the distributor, the machine manufacturer is responsible for carrying out and documenting the evaluations. Device manufacturers provide the relevant characteristics for the safety-related devices used from a product liability perspective. The safety technology calculations can be carried out with calculation tools such as Sistema. In order to standardize the characteristics, the standard 66413 VDMA data sheet has been adopted under the direction of the VDMA, machine and component manufacturers, and testing bodies. Phoenix Contact supports this standard by providing a corresponding XML data format for Functional Safety products free of charge.
