Vattenfall is the fourth largest electricity producer and the largest generator of heat in Europe. Vattenfall's vision is to be Europe's leading power company. The company is currently active in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Poland. Vattenfall actively takes part in the entire value-added chain for electricity (generation, transmission, distribution, and sales). Vattenfall also plays an active role in power trading. It also generates, distributes, and sells heat.
The group employs over 32,000 people. The Swedish state is the sole owner of parent company Vattenfall AB. In Poland, generation and sales of heat represent a major part of the company. Vattenfall has a market share of approximately 27%. Power is also generated in small volumes. The Distribution division owns and controls power supply networks and distributes power to 1.1 million network customers mainly in the southwestern part of the country. Vattenfall has approximately 1.1 million power customers in Poland.
The company sells 11% of its power in the Polish energy sector and has a 26,757 km power supply network. Vattenfall Distribution Poland S.A. has 9000 power and transformer substations.
Some of these were old and required modernization. Here, the customer needed a solution for short and medium-term energy measurement for meter measuring circuits.
The solution from Phoenix Contact, electricity meter measurements with the option of interrupting three-phase voltage circuits and short circuiting the current transformer, meets all of Vattenfall's requirements. The universal terminal blocks are mounted on DIN rails and completely covered with transparent housing in order to protect the voltage circuits. The result is a ready-to-install set of DIN rail-mountable, switchable terminal blocks with a (FIBOX) cover, consisting of URTK 6, URDK 6, and UT 4-HESI terminal blocks with SB 2-8-T switching jumpers, colored marker strips, and PSBJ-URTK 6 test plugs for improved 3-phase differentiation.
High level of safety, clear operation, and universal use – these are the outstanding features of switchable URTK 6 und URDK 6 terminal blocks. The terminal blocks developed specifically for use in secondary transformer circuits have an option for integrating switching jumpers and test sockets on both sides.
The customer-specific Phoenix Contact solution that has been pre-assembled at Dlugoleka in Poland provides Vattenfall with a ready-to-install set of switchable terminal blocks. A single order number enables easy ordering for the designer. This structure is now also being used by other power distributors in Poland.
