Wireless I/O integration in the control level

The Radioline function blocks for PC Worx, STEP 7, and TIA Portal from Phoenix Contact make it possible to read out process data, status and diagnostic parameters of the Radioline wireless system directly with a controller.

Thanks to modern wireless technology, I/O signals from distributed sensors and actuators can be very easily integrated over large distances into a controller from Phoenix Contact or Siemens.

In widely distributed system structures outdoors such as communal infrastructure, water/wastewater, power generation, raw material extraction, transportation technology, and also chemical parks or other process-technical systems, measured values and operating messages often have to be communicated to a control center. These include, for example, the monitoring of fill levels or consistent recording of pump outputs and flow rates.

In the control room, the process data is then either transmitted to a higher-level system via a standardized software interface or displayed on a monitor in prepared format.Yet something that sounds so simple demands a great deal of technical software-related programming effort.

Function blocks can be used to integrate new functions quickly and easily or transform devices into a fully fledged part of your control system. This reduces development times.

In the Radioline front station, the entire wireless network is thus represented with just one Modbus slave address, and sensor/actuator information can be read and written easily.
