Basic principles of functional safety in process technology
You will gain an overview of the requirements for safety equipment used in process control applications and learn about the methods used to identify and analyze risks. You will also acquire a basic knowledge of the Safety Integrity Level, or SIL for short.
Application of EN 61511
This seminar will teach you the basic principles for achieving functional safety based on IEC 61511-1:2016 and other relevant standards. This will be clearly illustrated by using the safety lifecycle – from risk analysis and designing process control safety equipment to validation, operation, and modification – as a continuous example. Typical questions about the selection of field devices, the aspect of “proven in use”, and the design of safe software will be answered.
Application of EN 61511
There are often interfaces between the requirements for the process industry and for the safety of machinery: for example, packing machines or machines for transporting containers are also used in process engineering systems.
Scope of the Machinery Directive
Interlinking these machines can create an assembly of machinery. Changes to machines and systems are subject to the definition of a significant change. In such cases, an operator becomes the manufacturer and is responsible for the conformity assessment. We support you in complying with the specific requirements regarding the safety of machinery and safeguarding interfaces to the safety areas on the basis of criteria applicable in Germany and Austria.
