Industrial Ethernet Switches, which support the Device Level Ring (DLR) redundancy mechanism specified in EtherNet/IP™ in addition to conventional EIP functions such as IGMP snooping/querier, are available in the form of Managed Switches from the 7000 series. The Device Level Ring redundancy technology used in EtherNet/IP™ enables almost bumpless switch-over in the event of media failure – which means superior system availability. Thanks to the guaranteed switching time of less than 3 ms, the control process is not impaired.

With the Managed Switches from the FL SWITCH 7000 series you can simultaneously integrate several non-DLR-capable devices into the redundant ring via one switch.

The FL SWITCH 7000 offers numerous additional features for cost-effective and reliable networks with a particular focus on EtherNet/IP™. Support for the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) on the switch enables easy integration into the engineering. In turn, this enables very easy configuration and diagnostics directly in the control system.

Furthermore, the multicast and IGMP snooping functions ensure the intelligent filtering of network telegrams. This means that multicast telegrams are only forwarded to the devices that actually need them, which minimizes the network load and results in a more stable network.

The FL SWITCH 7000 supports the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP), in that it not only allows the switch itself to be directly integrated into the control system, but also other EtherNet/IP™ devices, e.g., I/Os.

This means that you can configure the switch from the controller and easily diagnose and manage all important functions or port-specific settings.

The faceplate visualization for the FL SWITCH 7000 provides access to important diagnostic information as well as configuration options via operating systems in the field (HMI, IPC, etc.). The visualization facilitates the immediate detection of changes, such as the failure of a power supply. Furthermore, in the faceplate ports, you can deactivate as well as configure the transmission speed and the duplex mode for each port.

Thanks to the use of CIP information, startup is possible without any additional programming effort in the control systems.
