SafetyBridge technology offers a network- and controller-independent safety solution.

You can transmit and evaluate safety-related signals via standard automation networks with this technology. This can be done without the use of a safety controller.

This technology is available for the Axioline F and Inline I/O systems. The technology is certified for the following networks: INTERBUS, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Modbus, CANopen®, DeviceNet™, EtherNet/IP™, EtherCAT®, and Sercos.

The example application with the Raspberry Pi mini computer shows the possibilities of the new Axioline F I/O modules with SafetyBridge Technology from Phoenix Contact. Through the use of the SafetyBridge Technology, safety functions up to SIL 3 and PLe are completely independent of the controller type and network protocol used.

In addition to classic PLCs, all types of machine, CNC, embedded eCLR, CODESYS and PC-based controllers can be used.

In the application, a Raspberry Pi board is used in place of all high-level language and IEC 61131 programmable controller types. Based on the Raspbian operating system, CODESYS runs as the PLC runtime system with integrated EtherCAT® master.

The Axioline F I/O modules with SafetyBridge Technology are connected to the EtherCAT® network via Axioline F bus terminals. All safety functions such as safe read-in, transmission, processing, and output are implemented in the safe I/O modules. The CODESYS application on the Raspberry Pi board uses a SafetyBridge Technology function block to access all status and diagnostic information of the safe I/O modules. It controls the safe outputs using the enable principle.

SafetyBridge technology for Inline and Axioline F

The SafetyBridge technology is also available for the Inline and Axioline F I/O system.

Inline is the flexible all-rounder down to the last detail. You can design your automation functions in a unique way from a wide range of I/O modules and function terminals for all popular fieldbus systems and Ethernet networks.

Axioline F is the I/O system in modular block format. Thanks to its particularly short response times, Axioline F is ideal for fast and synchronous processes. Push-in technology ensures quick and easy installation, while thanks to reduced emissions the Axioline F is also suitable for use in buildings.

SAFECONF software  

Easy configuration of your safety devices using drag and drop

Safety is made easy thanks to drag and drop. SAFECONF software, which is available free of charge, can be used to easily configure the functions of SafetyBridge with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Device configuration with SAFECONF is in line with statutory guidelines for setting up safety applications. The requirements of standard ISO 13849-1 can be implemented effectively with SAFECONF.
