Wastewater pumping stations play an important role in reliable wastewater disposal. They are needed wherever water cannot flow unaided due to differences in elevation. When it comes to planning, durability and operational safety are just as important as the energy-efficient operation of the remote structure. Planners, installers, and operators of wastewater treatment systems are therefore faced with the challenge of operating the individual pumps in the wastewater pumping stations as energy efficiently as possible. In addition, they have to minimize the downtimes of distributed structures through continuous monitoring.

Phoenix Contact offers a ready-to-install control cabinet solution that performs all control and regulation tasks for distributed pumping stations. Realize simple pumping stations with the modular PLC logic relay controller or modernize complex applications in the shortest amount of time using the open PLCnext Technology control platform.

Simple pumping stations with up to two pumps and level measurement can be realized cost-effectively with PLC logic and a local visualization system. The installation of an optional modem makes monitoring possible.

A PLCnext Control device can be extended with the PumpControl software solution to facilitate the control of up to four pumps with frequency converters and analog measurements. All of the parameters of a large pumping station are configured using a web-based visualization interface. Key operating parameters are transmitted to the higher-level control system through OPC UA and Modbus/TCP.

The pump automation solution is easy to install and all parameters can be set quickly via the visualization. The installation effort for remote structures is minimized through the connection of simple digital signals. Downtimes and faults can be reduced by using a standardized product. Along with supplying power to the control cabinet, operators just need to connect the sensors for the level, flow rate, and current measurement as well as the various input signals of conventional buttons, switches, and other indicators.
