Open Data Port – ODP

Intelligent and cost-effective data transmission

The ODP server from Phoenix Contact enables open communication between the PLC and the higher-level control system.

The ODP server from Phoenix Contact enables open communication between the PLC and the higher-level control system.

Open Data Port, or ODP for short, is an intelligent and therefore cost-effective solution for remote data transmission.

In order to adequately monitor systems with external stations, evaluate measured values, and back up data, it is useful for all stations to be connected continuously.

The ODP server from Phoenix Contact enables open communication between the programmable logic controller (PLC) and the higher-level control system. Using the GPRS mobile phone service, ODP transmits online values as well as historical data.

Additional advantages

  • ODP is supported by all controllers and GSM/GPRS modems from Phoenix Contact
  • Time stamp for saving process data, even in the event that the connection is interrupted
  • Cost-optimized data transmission including monitoring the amount of data transmitted
  • Central diagnostics for connection parameters, e.g., the strength of reception
