Wherever there is steam and hissing, where liquids, gases or powders are mixed, analyzed or broken down, the result depends on the implementation of the right recipe.

Modernizing and digitalizing process plants

A consistent data stream is the basis for predictive maintenance

The process industry is in a state of change. In many production operations, control systems from different manufacturers and different generations are in use due to long runtimes – many systems are already decades old.

This results in a corresponding pressure to modernize process systems. The underlying reasons include proprietary hardware and software along with communications interfaces that in some cases are no longer supported or that make exchanging data and communication difficult. Even different display, operating, and alarm philosophies make everyday work difficult. Last but not least, having a large number of different systems requires a costly inventory of replacement parts.

The way to a modern, digital plant is based on a three-step plan. The goal is to bring the communications up to the state of the art so as to optimize maintenance processes, reduce unplanned failures, and make inspection rounds paperless:

  1. Renovating control engineering
  2. Paperless documentation
  3. Combining measurement data with artificial intelligence
