The PCB terminal blocks and PCB connectors range from Phoenix Contact, with Ex approval, is specially designed for use in potentially explosive areas. The products have component approval according to the IEC/EN 60079-0 and IEC/EN 60079-7 standards, which define the requirements for devices in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The use of PCB connections in process technology places higher demands on the following properties:

  • Air clearances and creepage distances
  • Heating response
  • Resistance to aging
  • Insulation capability of insulation materials

Ex i marking according to IEC/EN 60079-11

For intrinsic safety Ex i protection according to IEC/EN 60079-11, both PCB terminal blocks and PCB connectors with Ex approval and standard products can be used. The setup of intrinsically safe circuits also requires adherence to the specified air clearances and creepage distances. The connection points of these circuits must be clearly marked. Color coding is light blue.
