Type 2 surge protection constitutes the second stage in the protection concept and is installed after the type 1 SPD. To protect the system against damage, e.g., caused by switching operations, the type 2 surge protective device further limits the remaining surge voltage. Narrow type 2 surge protection VALVETRAB SEC
With an overall width of just 12 mm per path, VALVETRAB SEC is our narrowest type 2 surge protective device. You can implement excellent protection against surge voltages in a five-conductor system within an overall width of just 48 mm.
The protective device offers a voltage protection level of 1.5 kV. This means that it meets the requirements of type 3 device protection. VALVETRAB SEC limits voltage peaks to such an extent that machines, systems, and household appliances are not damaged.
In industrial and building installations with an external lightning protection system, type 2 surge protection is the second protection stage after the type 1 lightning current arresters. The surge protective device handles short-circuit currents up to 50 kA. You can use the type 2 protective device without a backup fuse up to a main fuse nominal current of 315 A.
Type 2 surge protection with Push-in connection technology VALVETRAB-MS-PT
VAL-MS PT is the first type 2 surge protective device in the world to feature Push-in connection technology from the terminal block range. You can therefore also benefit from easy handling during installation for your surge protection as well. The Push-in connection technology allows tool-free installation, and it also means there is no need to check the recommended nominal torque.
The option of through-wiring also enables further savings, because no additional installation material is necessary.
Use the optional remote indication contact, which can also be easily installed with through-wiring, to ensure that the protective devices are monitored.
Modular and pluggable type 2 surge protection VALVETRAB MS
VALVETRAB MS type 2 surge protective devices feature a modular design. They consist of a base element and a protective plug. Type 2 surge protection including backup fuse VALVETRAB CP-MCB
If the main fuse in your application is >315 A, you need to protect the surge protection with an additional fuse. In this case, we offer suitable surge protection in the form of VAL-CP-MCB, consisting of type 2 surge protection with coordinated arrester backup fuse.
You get double the safety with minimal installation effort. You benefit from easy planning, regardless of the installation environment. The integrated status indicator and option for remote signaling provide information regarding the effectiveness of the surge protection. The space-saving solution is available for 5-, 4-, and 3-conductor systems.
Type 2 surge protection for 60 mm rail systems VAL-CP-MOSO
VAL-CP-MOSO type 2 universal surge protective devices provide a high short-circuit current rating on a narrow mounting base that is just 54 mm wide. These surge protective devices also feature a status indicator and remote indication contact.
You can install the protective devices in all common 60 mm rail systems. Installation is incredibly easy: Simply snap on the surge protection solution, connect the equipotential bonding, and you’re done!
