Supply and charge via the USB PD port
The new Step Power USB-PD power supply from Phoenix Contact is a flexible and efficient solution for supplying power to modern end devices in building automation. The USB PD (Power Delivery) standard not only supplies smart meter gateways, Raspberry Pis, and other smart home components reliably, but also charges mobile end devices such as tablets and laptops quickly.
The new power supply brings real added value, particularly for service and maintenance work: A separate charger is no longer required because the power supply charges directly via the USB PD connection. This saves time, reduces the amount of equipment required, and increases flexibility in the day-to-day work of service and maintenance teams. With a maximum output power of 65 W and a variable PD output voltage range of 5 to 28 V, the power supply is ideal for a wide range of applications. The high connection flexibility with one USB-A and two USB-C ports with Power Delivery on the front and on the top enables convenient handling in the distribution board, because the cover of the distribution board does not need to be adapted. This ensures a tidy and secure installation concept. Another performance feature is the high energy efficiency of the Step Power power supply. Low no-load losses of less than 0.21 W and efficient operation in the partial load range fulfill Efficiency Level VI and actively contribute to energy savings in buildings. The power supply thus supports both the functional requirements of and sustainable energy concepts in building automation.
With a compact design and a width of just 36 mm (2 HP), integrating this power supply can also save space. The wide temperature range of -10 to +70°C and a tested cold restart capability at as low as -25°C ensure reliable operation, even under demanding ambient conditions.
