CHARX control modular with software release 1.9.0 and new app for commissioning AC charging infrastructure

Phoenix Contact is extending the range of functions of its CHARX control modular AC charging controllers: With automated authentication in accordance with ISO 15118-2 (plug-and-charge) and guided initial configuration via app, the controllers support additional features for the standard-compliant operation of AC charging infrastructure.

Software release 1.9.0 adds plug-and-charge functionality in accordance with ISO 15118-2 and Hubject certification to the SEC 3050 and SEC 3150 series. At the same time, Phoenix Contact is launching a cellphone app that guides electricians through the initial configuration of AC charging stations and EV chargers.

Plug-and-charge and Hubject certification
This update means that CHARX control modular now supports the automatic authentication and billing of charging processes. Hubject certification ensures interoperability in the largest global plug-and-charge ecosystem and reduces the individual certification effort for operators and manufacturers. The software also fulfills the requirements of the EU’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation, thus creating the basis for EU-wide rollouts.

Technical extensions
In addition to plug-and-charge, the release integrates further security and protocol updates, including OCPP 1.6J, ISO 15118-2, and supplementary security patches.

Cellphone app for commissioning
The new app guides charging infrastructure installers through the configuration process for charging points. This includes the assignment of unique designations, load management settings, through to the selection of the release mode. It connects to the controller via ad-hoc WLAN or an existing network and supports Android and iOS. A direct link to the integrated web-based management system is available for making further settings. The app reduces sources of error during initial configuration and shortens installation times. Operators benefit from standard-compliant implementation, a robust security architecture, and readiness for future functions via software updates.

Software release 1.9.0 is now available in the download area of the respective item page. The cellphone app is being published for both Android and iOS.
