Opening of Phoenix Contact production in Mexico

To strategically expand Phoenix Contact’s global production network, improve supply chains, and be even closer to its target markets, the company has expanded its production network on the American continent. Production has now begun at the site in Querétaro, Mexico, as part of the first phase of construction.

The first phase of construction for the newly built production facility covers approximately 12,500 m² and was the first building at Phoenix Contact to be planned and built using the Building Information Modeling method. Experience gained from construction projects, production, and logistics has been incorporated into the planning and development. International influence was evident from the very beginning in the development of the Querétaro site. Employees from the US, Germany, China, Spain, and Mexico brought diverse professional and cultural perspectives to the table and supported one another in solving complex problems. “Today marks the successful completion of an intensive development phase and, at the same time, the start of a new chapter at our Querétaro site. Our thanks go to the entire international team that has made every step leading up to this day possible,” says Axel Wachholz, Chief Financial Officer of Phoenix Contact, expressing his appreciation.

Sample production for power supplies started at the beginning of 2026. In the future, production will be expanded to include electrical and electronic components for control cabinet building. The production site in Querétaro is designed for the long term and provides space for further growth and additional Phoenix Contact business units that will establish production operations there. There are also plans for an extension that will eventually increase the total space to more than 20,000 m². The long-term goal is to expand the site to around 700 employees by 2032 and establish it as an integral, strategic part of the global production network.
