Efficient utility metering and reporting at the MCH Messecenter Herning Flexible retrofitting for greater transparency and precise energy billing
Customer profile
An exhibition center with complex infrastructure
The MCH Messecenter Herning is one of the largest event venues in Denmark. Over the decades it has grown to comprise several halls, a stadium, and extensive service areas. This diversity makes the site a lively venue for international trade fairs and events, but also poses a challenge when it comes to transparent energy consumption recording.
The challenge
Creating transparency without interrupting operations
The operators were faced with a difficult task: How can a modern energy monitoring solution be implemented without fundamentally changing the existing infrastructure? Billing had to be more precise and user-based, while at the same time ongoing operations had to continue without disruption.
The solution
A system that grows with you and delivers immediate results
Instead of redesigning everything, those responsible opted for an intelligent retrofit. Phoenix Contact developed a concept that integrates seamlessly into the existing structure and can be gradually expanded.
Energy measuring devices from the EEM series, which record consumption directly, form the basis of this concept. The EPC 1522 edge PC is used to bundle the data locally, preprocess it, and transfer it securely encrypted to the Proficloud.io cloud platform. There the data is available in intuitive dashboards, including export and reporting functions for easy billing.
What makes this solution special is its modular and open design. New buildings or additional meters can be integrated at any time without major modifications. Thanks to the IoT framework and open standards, it is even possible to integrate devices from other manufacturers. This results in a flexible system that grows with your requirements and immediately creates transparency.
Your advantages
- Precise and transparent energy billing
- Scalable solution for established building structures
- Secure cloud connection and easy operation
- Reduced service calls due to remote access
- Basis for future optimizations and sustainability
Conclusion: The path to greater efficiency begins with transparency
With the introduction of energy monitoring, the MCH Messecenter Herning has taken a decisive step towards transparency and efficiency. The solution not only enables user-based billing, but also creates the basis for sustainable decision-making and future expansion – without affecting ongoing operations.
