Battery storage applications Technology that moves: Mobile battery storage systems Energy to go Mobile battery storage systems are becoming increasingly important. They enable a flexible, decentral, and emission-free power supply that is independent of the public power grid. The central strength of mobile storage applications lies in their flexibility and mobility. They can be used at short notice, transported easily, and scaled as needed. At the same time, they place high demands on safety, robustness, and fast commissioning. Our comprehensive portfolio of low-maintenance components and reliable solutions also meets these requirements and ensures maximum availability. Often, mobile battery storage systems have to operate under harsh ambient conditions and in places with limited access to the power grid. They are increasingly being used in mobile charging infrastructures, construction projects, the mining industry, at events, and in agriculture. Furthermore, in many of these applications, diesel generators were long considered a standard solution for the power supply. State-of-the-art battery storage systems are increasingly making diesel generators obsolete, both from a technical and ecological point of view. This is because mobile storage systems operate almost silently and do not require fossil fuels. ❯ More information on our portfolio starting on page 18 Stand-alone grids Mobile BESS can create a so-called stand-alone grid (microgrid), which enables flexible use in scenarios without an existing grid infrastructure. In this operating mode, our power electronics do not act as a feed-in unit in an existing supply network, but take on a grid-forming function. They generate a stable, grid-like voltage and frequency profile to which electrical loads are directly connected. Backup power Battery storage systems can stabilize the local energy system during periods of high, unpredictable energy demand and cover additional loads that arise, for example, when several heavy machines are operated simultaneously. They also enable loads to be charged with high charging powers, even if there is no mains grid connection or the grid connection is insufficient. They therefore serve as a backup for critical applications. 16 Phoenix Contact
