Ecology – conservation of resources and energy effi ciency Phoenix Contact has always practiced a sparing, cautious approach to using resources, based on the company's own drive and conviction. In machine building, care is taken to ensure the economical use of compressed air, for example, and lead-free production and the recycling of valuable materials – which relieve the burden on the environment – are seen by employees as their personal responsibility. All areas of manufacturing, as well as the operating technology, servicing, and maintenance operations are subject to a continuous improvement process. Use of rainwater Use of photovoltaics Use of geothermal energy Since 1994, rainwater has been collected for use as process water for fl ushing WCs. Since 2009, PV panels have been installed on the fl at roofs of the production halls in order to generate electricity for auxiliary power consumption.
