Industrial Terminal Block and General Purpose Relays

From a small signal interface relay to high power electronic contactors / motor starters, Phoenix Contact has industrial relay options that make sense.

General Information:

When Phoenix Contact introduced the slim 6.2mm, plug-in relay terminal block (PLC-RELAY), a new relay standard was born.  Never before had so much technology been housed in such a compact and reliable package.

Since that introduction, Phoenix Contact has continued to define the standards of terminal block relay technology. By developing new innovations to meet specific application needs, Phoenix Contact's PLC-RELAY continues to lead the way in innovative and reliable industrial terminal block relay technology.

In addition to plug-in terminal block relays, Phoenix Contact offers a DEK family of slim 6.2mm, low profile terminal block relays.  Unlike the PLC-RELAY with a plug-in relay, the vibration resistant DEK houses either electromechanical or solid state industrial relays (SSR) soldered into the terminal block housing.

Phoenix Contact also has general purpose or MINI Power Contact styles of industrial control relays in our product lineup.

Terminal Block with Plug-in Relay or SSR

The full featured PLC RELAY terminal block relays are available in 6.2 or 14 mm wide DIN-rail mount relay bases, which can be arranged in rows and mixed as desired. These relays are industrial electromechanical or solid state plug-in control relays with either screw or spring-cage terminals. They are available in common industrial control voltages from 5 V to 230 V with input/coil protection integrated as a standard feature.
  • Electromechanical terminal block relay
  • Solid state terminal block relay
  • High current option
  • "Specialist" versions for a wiring advantage!
  • Class I, Division 2; EMR and SSR versions
  • Leakage current filter
  • Uses the same jumper bar for 6.2mm or 14mm components

Terminal Block with Soldered in Relay or Solid State Relay (SSR)

The DEK Series are 6.2mm wide and mount on DIN-rail. This industrial electromechanical control relay and SSR family of products includes most control voltages both for signal input and output. Colored insertion bridges for the supply and ground signals make it possible to design the control circuit simply and effectively. Integrated damping diodes, polarity protection diodes and surge voltage protection elements protect the DEKs to ensure availability of the system. The DEK internal industrial control relays and SSRs are not replaceable.
  • Very low profile terminal block
  • DEK electromechanical terminal block relays
  • DEK solid state terminal block relays (SSR)
          - High current (10amp SSR) types
          - High switching frequency (100Khz Versions)

Force Guided DIN-rail Mount Relays

Force guided relays, also known as directly driven relays or positively driven relays, have contacts that are mechanically linked. This mechanical link for the force guided contacts provides "monitoring" functionality that's not available in standard relays (non-force guided) in regards to the ability of the normally closed contact providing status for the normally open contacts.
  • Up to five normally open force guided contacts
  • DPDT force guided relay version
  • 22.5mm force guided relay version
  • Low profile force guided relay versions
  • Pluggable, keyed screw and spring connector versions available

General Purpose Relays and Relay Bases

The PR Series of general purpose relay bases and relay/base combination part numbers consists of the PR1, PR2 and PR3 form factors. This modular system allows for the selection of only the required components or the purchasing of a fully assembled PR1 or PR2 with one part number. PR options include the relay, the relay base, relay retaining bracket, "plug-in" modules for protection / LED indication and base mounted markers. Using the PR series allows for application specific relay solutions that are cost effective and functionally optimized.
  • PR1 MINI Power Contact, bases and relay/base combination parts
          - Electromechanical SPDT & DPDT
          - Solid state relay
  • PR2 Industrial "ice cube" bases and relay/base combination parts
          - 2PDT and 4PDT relays
          - Spring or screw terminations
  • PR3 octal style relays and bases
          - 8 or 11 pin octal sockets
          - DPDT or 3PDT relays
  • Accessories

General Purpose Relays and High Quality Relay Bases

The UMK general purpose "empty" relay bases (sockets) and general purpose relay/base combination part numbers are available with pluggable or soldered-in electromechanical. Terminals for the coil and the contacts are located on opposite sides to facilitate installation. These modules have a universal foot and can easily be placed onto conventional DIN-rail.
  • UMK 1  : High quality base for plug-in SSRs
  • UMK 22: SPDT or DPDT General purpose relays and bases
  • UMK 33: 1,2,3 or 4PDT General purpose relays and bases
  • UMK 45: SPST industrial high current, magnetic blowout relays and bases
  • UMK 56: DPST industrial high current relays and bases
  • RMOB:   1, 2 or 3PDT, high quality octal style relay bases

High Power, Solid State, Single Phase Load Relays

Input ranges of 4-32Vdc or 24-230Vac can be supported with this new selection of solid state relays known as Electronic Load Relays (ELR). All new versions of these single-phase ELRs support a 42-660Vac output range. Adding to application versatility is the available amperage ratings of the outputs. These DC or AC input products are available with outputs that can drive 20, 30 or 50 amp loads.
  • Versions that switch 20, 30 or 50amp AC loads
  • Industrial functionality
          - Low noise and high frequency switching
          - Theoretically infinite number of switching cycles
          - Vibration and shock resistant
  • Typical applications include:
          - Heaters (temperature controllers)
          - Light and lighting systems
          - Conveying systems
          - Other industrial machines
  • Output protection circuit
