Field wired connectors for quick and easy cordset assembly and installation
Field-wired cable connectors are used for cable repair points, cable extensions, or on-site cordset assembly. Selecting the appropriate connection technology can help technicians to save time in the field, while making secure and reliable electrical connections.

Screw terminal
This classic method of wire termination is popular with technicians in almost any industry. The screw connection meets the most stringent requirements. Either unprepared copper wires or ferruled wires can be used in the screw clamp body. The metal parts of the wire clamping area are made of high-grade, strain-, crack- and corrosion-proof copper alloys to eliminate the possibility of electrolytic corrosion in the presence of moisture and the risk of rusting. The surface is protected by a lead-free, galvanic nickel or tin plating.

Spring-cage
The spring-cage contains a spring that presses the isolated conductor against a power rail. Either unprepared copper wires or ferruled wires can be used in the spring-cage body. The clamping point is opened by using a standard screwdriver. After the conductor has been inserted into the terminal compartment, the screwdriver is removed and the conductor automatically makes contact. A vibration-proof, gas-tight and long term stable connection is achieved. The metal parts of spring-cage consist of high-grade copper alloys.

Quickon One
This Phoenix Contact innovation is a fast wire termination method using insulation displacement contacts to penetrate the conductor wall and make a secure, vibration-proof connection. The terminal compartment is equipped with a cutting contact. No stripping of the wire insulation is required, which results in a 60 percent savings of the assembly time when compared to screw connections. The conductor is simply fed into the connecting space and pressed into the cutting fork. The patented contact metals of terminals consist of a special, high-grade copper alloy. The surface of the metal parts is protected by lead-free galvanic nickel or tin plating.

Piercecon(TM)
This method of wire termination is fast and saves time due to the minimal wire preparation. No stripping of the wire insulation is necessary. The electrical connection is made by an axial piercing of the contact pin into the individual conductors. Rather than piercing the conductor’s insulation, the contact, which has a needle like point, enters into the end of the wire and contacts the copper strands in 360 degree position. The patented contact metals consist of a special, high-grade copper-alloy.

Solder cup
Soldering is a classic method of electrical wire connection. Stripping the conductor insulation, trimming excess, twisting the copper strands, and tinning ends are necessary steps required when preparing stranded wires.
