The new converter, PSI-WL-RS232-RS485/BT, provides wireless transmission for the RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 2-conductor serial interfaces. Time-consuming maintenance involving high costs is unnecessary. This simple cable substitute offers you a fast, flexible, and inexpensive solution for your programming or diagnostics connection to a machine, controller or when connecting a new device in an existing bus system (e.g. Modbus, Profibus, etc.). Interference-free radio standard
Bluetooth fulfills the requirements of a radio system in an industrial environment, makes use of the 2.4 GHz ISM bandwidth, and is an international and is an international, license-free, open industrial standard, using radio to allow wireless voice or data communication over medium ranges between two devices. It serves as a cable replacement for point-to-point connections and also supports ad hoc networks with up to eight devices.
As opposed to WLAN (DSSS Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum), Bluetooth uses the Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS). This was originally a procedure used by the military, is very difficult to tap into, and uses a total of 79 channels. The individual channel changes every 0.625 milliseconds in agreement with the transmitter and receiver. This amounts to some 1600 frequency hops per second. Extra data security is provided by the password protection option for the devices, or by making the devices invisible for other devices after the connection has been established.

The Bluetooth converter PSI-WL-RS232-RS485/BT offers the following functions:
- Wireless transmission of the RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 2-wire serial interfaces.
- Transmission rates that can be set up to 187.5 kbps, allowing them to be adapted to the transmission rate of the existing system.
- Spatial extent of the radio cell can be set to the individual requirements. Using the software tool, it is possible to set the transmission capacity in a wide range from -28 dBm to 20 dBm (100 mW).
