Combi-RCD now selective as well
With the combi-RCD VAL-CP-RCD…,Phoenix Contact is offering a device on the market which combines the properties of a residual current circuit breaker (FI) with those of a type 2 surge arrester in only one housing for the first time. A completely new device type has been defined with this "2 in 1" concept.
Double safety - simple installation
From February 2009, the DIN VDE 0100-410:2007-06 standard will make it mandatory that all socket circuits be protected with one FI circuit breaker each. The selective design of the combi-RCD not only provides an option of optimizing the protection against residual currents (selective structure), but also an option of installing the surge protection in the supply for the complete system.

Space in the control cabinet
Thanks to the narrow surge protection plugs in this combi-arrester, the total width is only 120 mm. In conventional installations of surge voltage and residual current protection, 8 TE (140 mm) space is usually required in a 5-wire system.

Separately pluggable surge arresters
If the surge protection should fail due to an overload, this is individually signalized on each connector thanks to the built-in temperature monitor. A specific, quick and cost-effective exchange can be carried out without interfering with the installation and without tools. Of course, the surge arresters can be tested with the CHECKMASTER testing device.
Thanks to its "2 in 1" functionality, you are on the safe side with the combi-RCD. Approvals as per VDE, KEMA and ÖVE are also proof of this. The combination of personal and device protection in one device with only 120 mm installation width is the installation standard of the future.
