COMTRAB modular protects against temporary and continuous surge voltages

The product family COMTRAB modular offers a combination protection device which both limits the surge pulses as well as the long-lasting surges (power cross).  The additional function of being able to keep long-lasting surge voltages (e.g. 230 V AC) on telecommunication, data or MCR lines from the terminal device is realized by a temperature-dependent resistor (PTC). If a long-term influence, e.g. due to contact of a 230 V AC line with the   information-related wires, the PTC becomes highly resistive due to the excessive current. This high resistance keeps any influence away from the terminal device.

Furthermore, the COMTRAB modular "CTM 2x1-180DC-GS" has a fail-safe mechanism which protects the internal coarse protection against thermal overload. With this, a defined state (short circuit) is reached in the event of an overload.
