NAT router and switch in only one device
As the first product, the FL NAT SMN 8TX combines the functions of a NAT router (NAT = Network Address Translation) and a switch in only one device.
With its control-cabinet-friendly, slim "SMN =Smart Managed Narrow" housing, the NAT switch fits optimally in the automation applications.
What is NAT?
This function is called a Network Address Translation - NAT. In other words, the IP address areas for NAT can remain constant within a machine, however, the addresses for the higher-level automation network are renamed or substituted.

A great combination!
Switch functions, such as port mirroring, Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) or redundancy mechanisms, ensure the usual, powerful data communication on seven 100Mbps ports in the LAN network, i.e. the internal machine network.
In the higher-level company network, the WAN network, NAT implementation takes place via the WAN port.

Additional functions of the NAT router
The following functions are also supported in addition to the NAT functions:
- Selection from the three router modes
- 1:1-NAT router
- IP masquerading
- Virtual routing
- Filtering the data traffic through isolation of broadcast domains
- Support of the following redundancy mechanisms
- Rapid spanning tree
- Fast ring detection
- Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) according to IEC 62439
- Configuration via web-based management
- Port mirroring
- Topology detection with LLDP
- IP address assignment via BootP, DHCP or statically
- Support of MEM Plug memory module
With the FL NAT SMN 8TX, users have the option to implement end-customer-specific configurations with MEM Plug from the Factory Line Portfolio from Phoenix Contact as configuration button. The FL NAT SMN 8TX NAT switches with preconfigured memory modules can be started up as per end customer specifications.
