IP65/67 AS-Interface devices

Use the AS-Interface to increase the availability of your machine or system. How? AS-Interface reduces your installation costs by replacing the error-prone and complicated parallel cabling with a single two-wire cable.

Like all Fieldline components, the new generation of AS-Interface devices of the Fieldline product range are characterized by their easy handling, quick installation and optimum assembly.

Fieldline Extension AS-Interface (FLX) is intelligent cabling in the lower field level of Phoenix Contact.

The Fieldline Extension AS-i M8 devices are especially characterized by their small size, due to which they can network sensors and actuators in direct proximity of the process. Machines and systems can thus have an especially compact design.

Features

  • Small width
  • Optimum assembly
  • Versatile connection

Small width

The slim housing width of 30 mm allows optimum assembly where space is limited and on profiles that are only 30 mm wide.

Optimum assembly

The axial arrangement of the mounting latches outside the housing is the ideal solution for simple and optimum assembly.

Versatile connection

A vast range of connections is available for connecting the Fieldline Extension AS-Interface devices to your AS-Interface network.

The Fieldline Extension AS-i M12 devices are ideal for economically networking various sensors and actuators in one AS-Interface network.

Thanks to the quick, easy and toolless contacting to the AS-i conductor as well as the design of the I/O connections in SPEEDCON fast connection technology, installation can be carried out especially quickly and easily.

Features

  • Plug and Turn
  • Flexible mounting

Plug and Turn

The revolutionary SPEEDCON fast connection technology reduces installation time to a minimum.

Fieldline Extension AS-Interface modules can either be fixed on even surfaces using standard M4 screws or simply snapped on to a DIN rail.

No tools needed for contacting

Fieldline Extension AS-i M12 devices can be installed easily and quickly. The new innovative locking mechanism allows a toolless connection to the AS-i flat conductors.

  1. Push back the module electronics and insert the AS-i conductor in the guide aids of the open module

  2. Push back the module electronics over the conductor to the initial position

  3. When the clip is snapped into place, the Fieldline Extension AS-i-M12 devices are connected to the AS-i flat conductors by means of cable penetration technology - brilliantly simple!

In addition to I/O slaves, an AS-Interface network also consists of other necessary system components:
  • AS-Interface master (Gateway)
  • AS-Interface power supply unit

In addition to the Fieldline Extension AS-Interface components with IP65/67 degree of protection for direct installation in the field, Phoenix Contact also offers other I/O slaves with IP20 degree of protection for control cabinet installation.

IP65/67 AS-Interface system structure

The system structure of an AS-Interface network is simple and proves to be a practical addition to the normal fieldbus, both technically as well as economically.

System data

  • Max. 62 (SPEC. 2 1/3.0) or 31 AS-i slaves (SPEC. 2.0)
  • AS-i conductor (flat cable or round cable)

An AS-i network can be extended to up to 100 m without a repeater and can have a line, star or tree structure.

The presented topology and the relevant components illustrate an example.
