VARIOCON at SEW Eurodrive
Plant engineering, and particularly the classic field of conveying technology, is currently undergoing a change toward a modular design as a result of new installation concepts being introduced. This is made possible by various components for distributed installation. Preassembled components are combined on site according to the specifications of the application, and put into operation within a very short time.
Drive specialist SEW Eurodrive has chosen the fieldbus distributor with integrated fieldbus interface for the modular Variocon plug connector as its installation interface. In this application, the advantages of Variocon come into their own: Using the EMC plug connector, the PCB is connected to the specially adapted hybrid cable that combines power supply, control voltage and communication in one sheath, thus guaranteeing ideal shielding and impedances together with the plug connector. The special shroud used for Variocon allows good EMC contacting. The modular plug-in system in combination with the hybrid cable reduces the number of cable entries and the installation costs involved.
