Safe components for a wide range of applications

INTERBUS Safety can be used in a wide variety of applications including all industrial sectors:

  • Mechanical and plant engineering
  • Automotive industry
  • Pressing, welding, cutting, chamfering, injection moulding or transporting applications
    ...

Safe sensors such as emergency stop switches, light barriers, door locks and latches or selector switches for operating modes can be connected. In addition, actuators, such as contactors, motors (24 V DC), valves and ohmic and inductive loads can be integrated in the safe fieldbus system.

The components

  • INTERBUS controller board with integrated safe controller
  • I/O coupling module for two INTERBUS-Safety systems
  • Inline safety module
    Rugged Line safety module

INTERBUS controller board with integrated safe controller

The INTERBUS controller board with an integrated safe controller is the basic unit of the INTERBUS-Safety system.
Tasks:

Reading in the safe inputs
Processing the safe application program
Controlling the safe outputs, whereby the cycle time of the S7 application program is not affected
The safe application is programmed in SafetyProg, the IEC 61131 user interface. The entire project is stored in the pluggable 32 MB parameterization memory to reduce the downtime to a minimum when replacing the controller board. The component supports a total of max. 126 safe devices and up to 512 devices in hybrid systems.

I/O coupling module for two INTERBUS-Safety systems

The safe gateway module has IP20 protection, is supplied with a 24 V DC voltage and connects two INTERBUS systems on the input/output level. In this way, both safe and unsafe data can be exchanged in both directions between two controllers via the INTERBUS system, whereby 14-bit safe user data can be transmitted. The data capacity can be adjusted with a rotary switch. Using the DIP switch, the operator can select the desired transmission rate (500 kbps or 2 Mbps) and decide whether a bus malfunction should be reported as an I/O malfunction.

Inline-Safety module

The safe Inline module with IP20 protection can be used at any point within the INTERBUS local bus system.
Features:
  • Four safe digital inputs and outputs with two-channel assignment
  • Eight safe digital inputs and six safe digital outputs with single-channel occupation, whereby two channels have negative switching

The following standard output components can be safely switched off by disabling the segment of the module. The parameters of the inputs and outputs are set in accordance with the application and make it possible to integrate safe sensors and actuators in INTERBUS Safety.

Rugged Line Safety module

The Rugged Line Safety module can be used under extremely harsh industrial conditions. The INTERBUS remote bus system is connected using FO, ensuring the highest degree of availability due to preventive INTERBUS fiber optic diagnostics.
Features:
  • Four safe digital inputs and outputs with two-channel assignment
  • Eight safe digital inputs and six safe digital outputs with single-channel occupation, whereby two channels have negative switching

The Rugged Line safety components are integrated in the network at any position and without restrictions for the existing modules.

System Advantages

  • Can be integrated later
  • Simplified programming
  • Making use of cost potential
  • Utmost safety

Can be integrated later

The safe I/O components are simply integrated in the existing network at the points where safe inputs are incorporated or safe outputs are connected.

Simplified programming

Standard applications such as emergency stop, two-hand control and safety door are offered as function modules, reducing programming and increasing clarity.

Making use of cost potential

If at one point only few I/Os need to be connected to INTERBUS, the user can also use the safe I/O component for the connection of unsafe signals.
