Combining proven INTERBUS features with safe functions to ensure maximum safety
The INTERBUS controller board with an integrated safe control controls the network in the framework of the INTERBUS Safety system.
It takes on the following tasks:
- Information on inputs and outputs or diagnostics are made available to the standard control system
- The safe controller is supplied with all the safety-relevant data
- Safe input data is processed directly in the safe controller. This then sets the relevant safe outputs, which are transmitted to the safe devices via the safe INTERBUS protocol.
- The standard data is sent in the safe INTERBUS protocol to the standard input and output devices

Safe I/O components

The safe I/O components have internal safety architectures, so that component failures, system interrupts or absence of data on the bus can be detected immediately. As all safe units control each other, faults occurring in other components can also be detected.

The INTERBUS Safety protocol and emergency stop function
The safe protocol data is integrated in the data flow of the standard INTERBUS system in the same way as normal device data. The integrated safety protocol, however, is evaluated by the safe controller and the safe I/O components only.

If the emergency stop switch is activated, the safe controller sets the output signal to a safe state and switches off the output via the safe output module. Only when all input conditions have been met again does the safe controller allow the output to be set via the standard controller.
