COMMUNICATIONS - Java Programmer / Websphere, J2EE Developer
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Internet Team Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
- Analyze and design web applications, including coding, testing, and documentation. Applications could include:
- JSP code
- Webservice providers
- Webservice consumers
- JSR-168-compliant and IBM Websphere-compliant portlets
- Migrate existing ASP-based web applications to Java for use in an IBM Websphere environment as needed.
- Maintain/upgrade deployed web applications.
- Work closely with application requestors to establish project requirements.
- Work closely with IT professionals to specify data requirements.
- Work as part of a global development team to establish the most efficient use of technology and resources.
- Support Phoenix Contact USA product marketing, sales and distribution departments as well as other Phoenix Contact subsidiaries as directed.
- Support the corporation, the Regional Business Units and other subsidiaries in the Americas as needed and deemed appropriate.
- Provide assistance to the Internet Team Leader as directed.
- Remain up-to-date on advancements in web programming.
- Ongoing professional training in appropriate web programming programs.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related subject, or equivalent experience.
- At least three years full-time experience in JAVA web application development in a J2EE or IBM Websphere environment, preferably using JavaServer Faces (JSF).
- At least two years experience with Active Server Pages (ASP).
- Experience with IBM JAVA development tools, including Rational products and Portlet Factory.
- Experience in a collaborative programming environment, including code management, test plans, etc.
- Experience with IBM enterprise products preferred, especially Websphere products, but also including Tivoli Access Manager, Omnifind, and Lotus Notes.
- Experience with XML, including XSLT.
- Experience with SQL.
- Extensive experience with internet technologies, including web browsers, web servers, HTTP, Javascript, FTP, SSL, and SMTP.
- Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, organized and have the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.
- Must be flexible and dynamic in order to adapt to ever-changing web project requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of programs in or associated with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Professional approach to work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit at a desk, car or an airplane for 7-8 hours at a time.
- Ability to travel (including international travel) and to sit on airplanes or in cars for up to eight hours at a time.
