SALES DEPT. - Automation Sales Engineer (ASE) - (1) North Carolina - (1) Michigan
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be proficient in R3/BASE skills and implement the skills to build strong relationships, generate profitable revenue and drive optimum results.
- Focus on customer applications with objective to provide Automationworx solutions.
- Fully utilize iAvenue as a tool to enhance productivity.
- Effectively communicate with the entire Phoenix Contact team.
- Focus on the customer by averaging a minimum of 9-12 sales calls per week, with at least 1/3 being joint calls with ISE's, PE's or Distributors.
- Develop and maintain an expert understanding of the INTERBUS protocol and factory floor level communication technologies.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge on all Phoenix Contact products, with specialized emphasis on I/O, Industrial Ethernet, and Controllers & Software.
- Develop and implement regional plans for projects and industries as specified by the Automation Sales Manager/Director of Sales and agreed upon by the RSM.
- Coordinate opportunities for other Phoenix Contact product offerings with regional personnel.
- Develop, schedule and/or conduct product presentations and/or technology seminars to targeted accounts or industries.
- Support Sales Channel Partners in all technical aspects relating to the sale of Automation Group products.
- Maintain product forecasts and project tracking within the framework of a sales force automation software package.
- Meet and/or exceed quarterly and annual sales quotas as specified by the Automation Sales Manager/Director of Sales.
- Develop, conduct and schedule product and application training sessions for Phoenix Contact field personnel, manufacturing representatives, distributors and customers.
- Support AutomationWorx installations within a given Region.
- Maintain project tracking within the framework of iAvenue.
- Monitor competency level of Phoenix Contact personnel, representatives and distributors and make recommendations to the Automation Sales Manager to affect improvement.
- Be actively involved with industry associations positioning Phoenix Contact as the industry leader.
- Drive sales of Automationworx products at OEMs, Users and Systems Integrators within our primary and supported market segments.
- Complete certification process for the Automation Sales Engineering position within 12 months of hire date.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year degree. Engineering/technical focus degree preferred.
- 3 to 5 years' minimum sales experience in the ISE position with Phoenix Contact preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Phoenix Contact's business and service solutions (commercial and application based) and channel capabilities.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with a computer and Windows based applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Polished presentation skills a must.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to travel via airplane.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs (sample, demos, literature)
- Must be able to travel overnight 30-50 % as dictated by assigned territory.
- Comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Punctuality in all aspect is required.
- Timely reporting of expenses, sales call activity, and opportunity tracking (not to exceed two weeks).
- Attendance in accordance with company policies and participation in local, regional, and (inter)national meetings.
